The Thenmala Butterfly Safari Park is Asia’s first butterfly park spread around 3.5-hectares. The park aims to create awareness about butterflies, providing us an insight into the astounding diversity of these flying jewels. The park is home to approximately 125 different species of butterflies. Watching them fluttering around in this artificially created habitat is a sight to behold and a treat to your senses.
Palaruvi is located approximately 16 km from Thenmala towards Shenkottai. The waterfalls at a height of 300ft, surrounded by lush green forests, make for an ideal picnic spot. One will have to walk through the dense green forest and do a small trek to experience and view the breathtakingly beautiful waterfalls. At Palaruvi you can enjoy the panoramic view and take a refreshing bath in the waterfalls, making it a truly wonderful get away from your busy lives.
The Thenmala dam also called the Kallada or Parappara dam, is the second largest irrigation project in Kerala. One can get a panoramic and picturesque view of the dam and the reservoir from the adjacent watchtower
